Bounty & Soul Thanks PBS for Highlighting Community Resilience During Hurricane Helene

We are deeply grateful to PBS for highlighting Asheville and Bounty & Soul’s work in the recent episode of Hometowns. This episode brought attention to the defining and often difficult stories of our community, including the immense challenges caused by Hurricane Helene, and how our community rose together in the storm’s aftermath.

The hurricane had a significant impact, but through resilience, compassion, and collective effort, Buncombe County came together to support one another and rebuild stronger. PBS captured these moments of courage, care, and determination, showcasing the values that define both our community and the work of Bounty & Soul.

Since the episode aired on October 16, the response has been incredibly moving. We’ve seen comments like:

  • “Y’all, this is the best PBS show I have seen. They captured the heart of Asheville and the surrounding area.”
  • “This was very well done, it restores my faith that there are still so many good people out there willing to lend a hand in times of need.”

That’s the kind of response you hope for when telling a story about a place, especially one as layered and beloved as Asheville.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the episode is available on the free PBS app (Roku, Firestick, Apple TV, and other smart devices), as well as on PBS Appalachia’s website and social media channels:

We encourage you to watch and share this episode with your teams, colleagues, and community so more people can see how Asheville’s resilience and collective spirit helped the community rise in the face of Hurricane Helene.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Bounty & Soul Team
