Community Roots Month: Cooking with the Seasons
May 28 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Welcome to Community Roots Month!
This May, we’re celebrating growth, connection, and all things green with Community Roots Month—a month-long series of hands-on gardening classes, inspiring guest instructors, and free plants and seedlings to get your garden blooming.
This Week: Cooking with the Seasons – Local Foods Cooking Class
Tuesday, 5:00–7:00 PM | 1038 Old US Hwy 70 W, Black Mountain
Join us for the final class of our Community Roots Month series—a celebration of local harvests and the power of seasonal eating!
We’ll begin with Farm Alliance sharing what’s fresh and in season right now, along with tips on where to source it. Then, Rooted in Health will lead an interactive cooking demonstration that highlights how to transform those ingredients into simple, nourishing meals you can enjoy at home.
What You’ll Learn:
-
How to identify and source seasonal produce in our region
-
Cooking techniques that preserve nutrients and bring out natural flavor
-
The health benefits of eating with the seasons
-
Creative ideas for meal prepping with local ingredients
Takeaway:
Participants will enjoy a tasting of the dishes prepared in class and take home printed recipes to keep the seasonal inspiration going in their own kitchens.
Let’s grow together—come root into community, explore the power of plants and food, and leave nourished in every sense.
