To close out Community Roots Month, Chef Jamie Myers will take participants on a culinary journey that celebrates the beauty and flavor of cooking with local produce. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to transform fresh, seasonal ingredients into vibrant, nourishing dishes that highlight what’s growing right here in our region.
Jamie will share practical kitchen techniques for preparing vegetables at their peak, along with creative ways to layer flavor using herbs, spices, and simple cooking methods. Participants will explore how to build balanced, satisfying meals from locally grown foods while gaining confidence in cooking with whatever the season provides.
Chef Jamie is a professionally trained chef (Pennsylvania College of Technology, part of Penn State) with over 15 years of culinary experience in Buncombe County. His cooking style highlights local, seasonal ingredients with global inspiration—blending world flavors with Appalachian roots. Expect a welcoming, interactive class where participants will cook, taste, and leave inspired to bring the flavors of local food into their own kitchens.
