About the Chef
Chef Jamie Myers is a professionally trained chef from Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State) who grew up on a dairy farm, shaping his deep appreciation for home-cooked, community-grown food. His passion for cooking with local, seasonal produce and small-farm meats and dairy is rooted in those early experiences. Jamie spent seven years cooking in Florida, specializing in Caribbean cuisine and seafood, and has been a chef in Buncombe County for the past 15 years. He is currently the chef at Open Oven Café & Bakery, where he has been since its founding over six years ago. His cooking style blends local, seasonal ingredients with global inspiration, drawing from Korean, Japanese, Mexican, Argentine, Spanish, French, Italian, and Sicilian traditions.
Outside the kitchen, Jamie enjoys foraging local mushrooms and wild foods. He is also an artist and woodworker and is currently training to become a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.
