Black Mountain Unitarian Universalists Donate Auction Proceeds to Bounty & Soul
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Swannanoa Valley (UUCSV), at 500 Montreat
Road in Black Mountain, held its sixth annual auction May 10th. In addition to the live auction
night, an online virtual auction took place the week before, with numerous items donated by
Black Mountain area businesses.
From the proceeds of this event, $1800 was presented to Bounty & Soul for their amazing work
in this community overall and especially in the aftermath of Helene.
Community-wide Support
In addition to items and services donated by churchgoers, the incredibly generous Black
Mountain business community stepped up as they have every year. Almost every business in
town contributed to this event including long time contributors like Tyson Furniture, White
Horse Black Mountain, Kilwins, Veranda, Town Hardware, Black Mountain Center for the Arts
and almost all of the area restaurants as well as newly established businesses like Annie’s
Culinary Garden, Peri Social House and Mindful Wellness Space. Though a relatively small
congregation of under 150 members, the UUCSV has been a welcoming, engaged community
since its founding in 2002. Open to all who share or support its non-credal beliefs, UUCSV
maintains an active religious education program, social activities, a full choir, and numerous
community activities.
