Bounty & Soul Awarded a Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation

Bounty & Soul is honored to have been awarded a Neighborhood Grant presented by The Starbucks Foundation. The award is made possible because of the local manager and local partners at the Black Mountain Starbucks who nominated and advocated for Bounty & Soul.

Since Bounty & Soul’s bi-weekly Produce to the People community markets are held directly behind the Black Mountain Starbucks on Highway 9, the award is especially fitting, as they are truly neighbors and involved in many collaborative initiatives.

“I’m grateful to be able to leverage The Starbucks Foundation’s community grant program to nominate Bounty & Soul for these Neighborhood Grant awards,” says Bruce Stanley, store manager of the Black Mountain Starbucks and Bounty & Soul Advocate for the grant. “Our Black Mountain store accepts healthy food donations for Bounty & Soul and has also collected Notes of Kindness that have been distributed in the food boxes at the bi-weekly markets. My daughter volunteers every Tuesday with Bounty & Soul at the market. Starbucks partners from Black Mountain and Asheville volunteer at the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden and the Bounty & Soul market. I’ve attended amazing cooking classes with my teenage son that were led by Bounty & Soul’s amazing Dayna Miller. My wife loves attending the Zumba classes and volunteering as a Bounty & Soul Board member as well! I’m very passionate about food justice in our local community and grateful to be able to support Bounty & Soul’s mission of providing access to healthy nourishing foods and building community!”

“We are truly grateful to be nominated and awarded this Neighborhood Grant,” says Ali Casparian, the Founder and Executive Director of Bounty & Soul. “In this work, it truly takes a village, and we are honored to have Bruce and all of the employees at Starbucks as advocates and allies in the work of nourishing the community. We are deeply thankful for this generous Neighborhood Grant, and for the many ways that our local Starbucks gives back to the Bounty & Soul and the entire community.”
