Bounty & Soul is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Pisgah Health Foundation. This grant award will support and strengthen its Produce to the People™ program. The program focuses on providing equitable access to fresh nutritious food, so everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life and in turn create a thriving community. Each week, hundreds of individuals and families from Buncombe and McDowell County participate in Bounty & Soul programs and services. In just the last six months 66,500 individuals received over 300,000 pounds of fresh food, with 126,000 pounds of that food donated and purchased from local farmers, distributors, businesses & community gardens.
“We could not consistently provide these much needed and requested services that directly impact the health and well-being of the community without the support and generosity of committed partners like the Pisgah Health Foundation” says Ali Casparian, Bounty & Soul Executive Director. The funding will go directly to supporting the purchase of a temperature-controlled box truck to transport food to weekly markets, as well as purchase additional food from local farmers and supplies needed to run the Produce to the People™ program. “Pisgah Health Foundation is grateful to play a vital role in supporting programs that address food insecurity.” States Cathleen Blanchard, Chair, Board of Directors. The Pisgah Health Foundation is a public 501 (c)(3) charity founded in 2019, by a board of seven caring individuals focused on improving the health, wellness and lives of western North Carolina residents. The organization evolved out of the Transylvania Regional Hospital Foundation.
