Vegan Gravy

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Tablespoons vegan butter
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour, sifted
  • 3+ cups vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon crushed rosemary
  • Fresh ground black pepper and salt, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Melt the butter in a pot or skillet over medium heat
  2. Add flour and stir to combine, forming a crumbly paste
  3. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture starts to smell nutty
  4. Pour in broth / seasonings and bring to a boil, whisking constantly to combine
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, whisking frequently, until thickened
  6. If too thick, add more vegetable broth. If too thin, add flour and continue to cook
