Spectrum Feature: ‘It provides a sense of community’ Nonprofit providing free produce to Helene victims
We are honored to have been featured by Spectrum News in a recent story highlighting Bounty & Soul’s response to the growing food insecurity in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. As the storm’s impact continues to ripple across the region, our organization has seen a dramatic increase in need — now serving over 26,000 individuals each month through our free produce markets.
The segment underscores the importance of providing access to fresh, nutritious food without stigma or barriers. In areas like Swannanoa, where local grocery stores were destroyed, our mobile markets are often the only source of fresh produce. We are proud to collaborate with local farms and community partners to ensure that every person is treated with dignity and respect — no registration, no qualifications required.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Spectrum News for helping raise awareness about the urgency of this issue and the impact of community-driven food justice.
